It has been emailed to patients who have signed up for the Patient Participation Group; paper copies are available in reception or you can click on this link Wickham Park Patient Survey to help inform changes and developments.

We are keen to recruit new members to the patient participation group. If you would like to contribute or be involved please inform reception or email the surgery on BROCCG.WPKSupportGroup@nhs.net

Premises Update

The surgery building is looking more than usually battered this week after coming off worst in a collision with a lorry last week. The hand rail beside the entrance has had to be removed and we are waiting on their (unenthusiastic and disinterested) insurance to approve necessary repairs to the corner wall of the building.

Please take care along the path to the front door as there is a small drop off into the alleyway.

New premises update for the new financial year:
We have received the following update from the Head of Primary and Community Care at Bromley CCG.

"I can confirm via our Chief Financial Officer that the investment into your premises remains a priority for the CCG but it has yet to go through the formal approval process. This process rests on a number of things. Firstly, we are awaiting the new guidance from NHS England about the 2016/17 Primary Care Transformation Fund (PCTF). Once this is issued, we then need to give formal approval of Bromley proposed schemes such as yours, but it will need to be linked to our estates strategy to show that any investments support our long term plan for estates in the borough. The final Bromley estates strategy is being worked on currently with NHS Property Services and we should have it ready in mid May. However, it will then need to go through the local Clinical Executive and the SEL Primary Care Joint Committee for formal approval."

We are now 17 years and counting from our original plan to expand and improve the surgery premises. We still have hope.

Medicines Recycling comes to an end

Many of you will have helped us over the years to reduce waste by returning unused and in date medicines for recycling to sub-Saharan Africa through the Inter Care charity. A massive thank you to all who have helped over the years.

Our last donation box was collected at the end of April and it is with great sadness that I have to pass on the following announcement from the charity:

"Since December 2015, Inter Care has been unable to recycle patient returned medicines due to EU legislation and while we have been able to source some basic medicines, such as antibiotics and painkillers, from a number of pharmaceutical companies, we urgently need GP practices and other healthcare professionals to send us surplus medical supplies. These include items such as blood pressure meters and non-mercury thermometers, as well as bandages, dressings, small syringes, uniforms and more."

If you have previously donated medicines and would like to continue to support Inter Care you might like to consider making a financial donation using this link Intercare - How to help

Please do not return any medications to the surgery but take them to the pharmacist for safe disposal.
